South Sunflower County Hospital strives to provide the same level of care as a large obstetric facility, but with the small facility friendliness and attention to detail. This is accomplished through years of experience, staff training, and up-to-date technology.

With the recent maternity suite renovation, we are able to provide mothers, babies, and families with a private, secure, comfortable, and relaxing environment to celebrate the significant occasion. All private maternity suites at South Sunflower County Hospital, offer private bathrooms and showers, 32-inch flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi access, and comfortable sleeper-sofa to accommodate overnight visitors. The rooms are also equipped with the latest technology including a central fetal monitoring system that provides continuous observation.

As one of the remaining rural hospitals that are still delivering babies, we are extremely fortunate to be able to offer this high-quality obstetrical care to our community. This is evidenced through the recognition as the 3rd Designated Baby-Friendly birth facility in Mississippi. Baby-Friendly USA, Inc is the U.S. authority for the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (“BFHI”), a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this prestigious international award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
